Steel Bridge Girder Manufacturing and Assembly

Within the scope of this project, a steel bridge utilizing a steel girder + post-tensioning system was successfully fabricated and erected in accordance with the design criteria and project requirements.

The bridge has a 38 m span and a 14 m width, with the structural system consisting of trapezoidal-web steel girders. The total girder depth, including the concrete bottom flange, was designed as 1100 mm. The system was optimized to provide high load-bearing capacity, stiffness, and efficient performance for medium to long spans.

Fabrication Process

The fabrication of the main load-bearing steel girders and the concrete bottom flange elements was carried out at our Ankara manufacturing facility. Upon completion of the steel fabrication and concrete production, the bridge components were prepared for shipment in segmented (modular) units.

The total fabrication period was completed within 3 weeks, during which comprehensive quality control and dimensional tolerance checks were rigorously implemented.

Erection and Post-Tensioning Works

The fabricated bridge components were transported to site, and on-site erection was performed using bolted connections. The erection works were completed within 1 week after site handover, including the installation of the deck trapezoidal sheets.

Following the completion of the preliminary erection, post-tensioning operations were carried out in accordance with the project specifications. The post-tensioning process enhanced the overall structural stiffness, controlled deflections, and optimized the service performance of the bridge.

Project Outcome

The project was successfully completed, offering the advantages of short fabrication and erection duration, high structural capacity, and efficient structural performance. The implemented trapezoidal-web steel girder + post-tensioning system provides an economical, fast, and reliable solution for medium- and long-span bridge applications.
